But not like we've heard from every 80's cover band in town. Let's rebuild them with updated sounds and modern dance beats. Live band energy with a DJ feel. Clean, polished, and built to get a room moving.

Reimagined

We're reimagining dance pop classics, not playing them note-for-note. We'll take the tracks everyone knows and reconstruct them with funky guitars, deep bass, and modern dance beats.

We'll target venues including bars, weddings, and private events. This is a serious commitment, and I'm looking for professionals to bring this to life. Once the lineup is in place, I'm expecting to have frequent rehearsals until we're tight, then launching to playing out 2–3 times a month, on weekends.

About Me

Hi! I'm Billy. I have fifteen years of live band experience in and around Austin. Hundreds of gigs across dozens of venues. Full PA system on hand, solid industry and venue contacts, and a track record of getting bands from rehearsal to packed rooms.

This video is from my last band in which I played bass, keys, sang lead vocals and harmonies. I want to bring that same energy and professionalism to Material World.

I'm looking for bandmates who are fun, easygoing, dedicated, and drama-free. No exceptions. If you show up on time, play your parts passionately, and leave the ego at home, we'll have a great time.

Great Players Wanted

Female Lead Vocalist

This band is being built around female-fronted pop and dance, and the lead vocalist is the centerpiece of that. Strong voice, real stage presence, someone who owns a room. Playing an instrument is a bonus, but the performance comes first.

Drummer

We're going for a modern dance-pop sound, which means electric or hybrid kit is a must. The textures and samples just aren't there on an acoustic setup. You'll also be playing to a click track, which keeps everything locked in and tight. If that's already part of how you play, or you're willing to learn, you'll fit right in.

Guitar Player

This isn't a shred gig. We need a versatile player who serves the song. Great tone and the ability to dial in the right sound across a wide range of styles matters more than flash. Keyboard skills and backup vocals make you a strong candidate.

Keyboard Player

In a pinch, background tracks can cover keys, so this isn't a make-or-break role. That said, live playing always wins when we can get it. If you're an experienced keys player, reach out. Vocals are a bonus here too, but not required.
